GalaFLEX®
Many factors determine the quality of tissues throughout life; genetic inheritance, weight changes, pregnancies, and previous surgeries can negatively affect tissue structure. Let's add gravity and time, both of which constantly act on the body causing sagging. All these changes manifest themselves in the breasts with stretch marks, sagging, expanded areolas, etc.
GalaFLEX® is a monofilament scaffold composed of poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB), a completely absorbable biological polymer. GalaFLEX® is gradually and completely absorbed over 18 – 24 months, leaving connective tissue 3-4 times stronger than native breast tissues. This makes a kind of “internal bra” that supports and keeps the breasts in place for longer.
The indicated use of GalaFLEX® is to reinforce tissues in cosmetic breast surgery such as reductions, lifts, and augmentations with implants. Likewise, it is used to resolve complications from previous surgeries and in breast reconstructive surgery. It is approved by the FDA for use in breast surgery, and is the first and only mesh approved in Mexico for this use.
Dr. Juan José Ruiz Treviño, MD, FACS, is a pioneer in the use of GalaFLEX® throughout Mexico and Latin America in different clinical scenarios: from breast lifts and corrective surgery, to complex breast reconstructions.
